DoubleTree By Hilton is Hilton's business hotel chain so even as it's not as opulent as some of the other brands in Hilton's repertoire it ticks off all the boxes to ensure a very comfortable stay for business travellers for whom functionality matters more than luxury. Their Chinchwad property, the only one of its kind in the Pimpri-Chinchwad highway, is similarly fuss-free offering a great location advantage to visitors to the industrial belt. The hotel houses a coffee shop, 3 Spices; a Japanese speciality restaurant, Miyuki; a rooftop lounger bar, Level 12 and a cake shop peddling confections, breads and savoury treats.
3 Spices has launched a new menu that incorporates a lot more local delicacies and international favourites and hosted a launch party to celebrate the same. The evening kicked off with some fine wines by Sula, the refreshing Reisling being my pick of the lot. Starters followed soon after from which the Tangra Style Chilli Chicken and Corn Chaat, served in cute tapri chai glasses, went well with the drinks.
Some of the dishes like Spare Ribs, Khandeshi Mutton, Potato and Spinach Mille Feuille from the new menu were laid out on the buffet. Other counters of the buffet included salads and mezze dips and breads, a live station for soups, a dessert counter and and an ice cream sundae counter. I'm not usually big on buffet grub, but most of the stuff at this one was definitely very serviceable. A special mention for the Mille Feuille which was a properly savoury creamy sauce with a good balance of the spuds and greens.
The Chocolate Mille Feuille, the very gooey Mud Pie, Carrot Cake and Gulab Jamun were some of the desserts that impressed the most. Proportional to the size of the hotel, the 60-seater 3 Spices isn't one of the most expansive coffee shops in the city but it sure serves the purpose well enough if you're in the vicinity and looking for a quiet meal with a nice ambiance.
